The Good News
When the birth of Jesus Christ was announced by the Angel in the Gospel of Luke, Jesus was revealed as the Savior. “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:10-11).
God sent His Son, to rescue humanity from sin and the curse. In a nut shell, Jesus came to ‘undo’ every curse Adam’s sin brought on us. Adam’s sin brought death and separation from God, but Jesus provided the way for us to be reconciled to God.
The Bible says, “For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one-man Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:17).
The Perfect Sacrificial Lamb
John the Baptist referred to Jesus as the Lamb of God, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29). Because of Adam’s sin we stand guilty before a righteous God. As such, in this statement John was referring to Jesus as the perfect and ultimate sacrifice for sin. He was referring to Christ as the perfect atonement for the sins of the world as predicted in the bible.
“He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth.” (Isaiah 53:7).
“Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with His wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:4-5).
On the cross, Christ bore the suffering that would have been our punishment for the sin we committed, and we receive the benefits of His death and resurrection when we believe in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 5:1).
Christ Has Made A Way
Even Jesus described Himself as the only way to God, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6).
Jesus came into the world to die for our sin, nobody can come to God without being cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. And this is the good news of the Christmas story, that we cannot come to God by our own means but God has made a way for us to come to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
“For this is how much God loved the world—He gave His one and only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in Him will never perish but experience everlasting life.17 God did not send His Son into the world to judge and condemn the world, but to be its Savior and rescue it!” (John 3:16-17) (The Passion Translation).
Hope for The Future
Realize today that Jesus has come to give you a New Life and a bright future. Jesus came that we might have an abundant life, a life of peace with God. Beloved, God has a good plan for your life. If we seek after God with a sincere heart, God will reveal Himself and His plan for our life.
“ For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11).
You don’t have to fear or be anxious about any trouble in this world. What you need is to believe and receive the promise by faith, trusting in Jesus Christ.
“But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12).
