“So I gave you a land on which you did not toil and cities you did not build; and you live in them and eat from vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant.’ (Joshua 24:13).
God is passionate about blessing us if we are willing to believe it and willing to walk by faith trusting His plan. We can see and learn from the example of Israel in the wilderness. God promised them a land flowing with milk and honey. A land already cultivated and ready to live in. They will harvests crops they didn’t plant. Drink from wells they didn’t dig. Live in houses they didn’t build. Take possession of a country didn’t labour for.
Everything was good and made ready for them. Yet they were unwilling to receive their blessing because of their unbelief. Even though God provided overwhelming prove of His love, power and faithfulness in their lives again and again. They witnessed countless miraculous acts of God. But only two people, Joshua and Caleb were willing to believe God.
God’s Will Is The Best For Us
This story causes me to reflect on another attitude of mind some of us have when it comes to receiving from God. Another sub division of unbelief in many Believers which we tend to disguise as humility, is the willingness to settle for less than God’s best for us. Here is an example, we come to God with a problem, we believe and expect God to release the answer but we believe God for the minimum possible. We are satisfied with just getting by. We tell ourselves, “At least it’s better than nothing.” I believe I’m not the only one who can relate to this.
We need to remember that God does not answer our prayers because we are a little bit good, but because Jesus has paid the full price for every promise of God! Remember, grace is not what you deserve but what Jesus deserves. God deals with us by the standard of what Jesus deserves!
Just as God did not hesitate to save us at any cost by sending His only Son, Jesus Christ to the cross to die for our sins. The same way, God also loves to meet our needs and bless us with the Godly desires of our hearts.
Through Prayer Anything Is Possible With God
Remember the story of the early Church praying for Peter in the book of Acts Chapter Twelve? King Herod was nurturing his wrath against the Church. He was persecuting and tormenting the early Believers to please the Jews. He already had James arrested and killed. And now Peter was next. Herod had him arrested and imprisoned, intending to kill Peter after the passover feast was over. By now, the Church was praying fervently for Peter. And God answered their prayer in a miraculous way. He sent an Angel to physically deliver Peter from the prison! God answered their prayer in an extraordinary way that was beyond their imagination!
God is constantly seeking us out to bless us. God promised Abraham, “As far as you can see I have given you” (Genesis 13:14-16). Stop to think and reflect on the magnitude of such a promise for a moment! But today, that promise God gave to Abraham has come true. And the ripple effect of that promise is still unfolding in the salvation of the human race through Jesus Christ. Billions have been saved and everyday around the globe untold thousands of people are coming to Jesus to receive salvation. Think about it, as result of a promise God made to Abraham!
We Are Heirs of The Father – A Great God
Beloved you are heirs of God do not fear! The earth and all the fullness of it belong to our heavenly Father. That’s why God tells us to boldly ask, “Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.” (Psalm 2:8)
I want to encourage you as I encourage myself, in this new season, Dare to dream bigger, dreams. Dream bigger than yourself. Believe God for the dreams and visions He has placed in your heart. Believed God for the Salvation of your family. Believe God to move supernaturally in the lives of your unsaved work colleagues to encounter Jesus in a personal way. Believe God to save your community, God can melt heart of stone with His love. Even in your Nation, believe for a move of God. (Acts 2:17).
Expect God’s Goodness – Life To The Fullness
God delights in doing good to us. God wants you to have good success this year. God loves to show us mercy. (Psalm 23:6). How far can you see God taken you in 2020? How about half of this New Decade, the Next 5 Years? Why don’t you stir up your faith and believe God for everything that is not right to receive a supernatural touch from God. No matter how impossible God can turn your story around for good to glorify His name in your life.
God does not want us to sell ourselves short of His best for us. The Bible tells us, if we are willing to line up our faith with God’s power He is able to move the mountain. “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.” (Ephesians 3:20). The key to developing strong faith is hearing from God. (Romans 10:17). And the key to receiving the promise of God is acting in obedience to God’s instruction. (Isaiah 1:19). God dealt with Joshua by giving him the right mindset for receiving the promised land. (Joshua 1:8-9). We must learn to renew our minds daily with the Word of God if we want to experience the victorious life of Christ.
There is no one more generous than God in the world if we believe His Word. When you ask in prayer don’t limit God according to your measure of reasoning. Trust that God is able and willing to bless you more than you can ask, think or imagine. And don’t forget to give God all the glory for it!
What are the areas you have set the limit for God in your life?
