Growing in Faith

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.” (Isaiah 53:5).

When you go to pray, do you feel intimidated and guilty? Do feel unworthy and lack confidence to believe God hears your prayer?

Part of a Roman soldier’s armour of war is an iron breast plate. This covers the chest area, the purpose it to protect the heart, lungs and other vital internal organs in the chest area.

As children of God, Jesus Christ is our righteousness. We cannot face the forces of darkness in our own righteousness. If we try, we will be found guilt and be exposed to the attacks and be overpowered by the enemy. The Bible declares that all our efforts and good works are like a ‘filthy piece of used menstrual rag.’ in comparison to the Righteousness of God. (Isaiah 64:6).

But when we are in Christ, as born again Christians, we are ‘a New Creation.’ And we have become the ‘Righteousness of God.’ As new creation, we have Right Standing with God because, we are created in the righteousness of God.(2 Corinthians 5:17 & 5:21). Righteousness is not how we ‘feel’ but ‘who we are.’ We didn’t have to do any thing to qualify for or to earn our righteousness in Christ. It was GRACE. Jesus Christ who knew no sin became sin for us so that we can be made Right with God. We are not justified by ‘Feelings’ but by ‘FAITH in Jesus Christ’ (Ephesians 2:8-9).

So how do we cloth ourselves, in the supernatural righteousness of Christ? Again,  by simply believing the Word of God that,  “I can do all things through Christ who gives me the strength.” (Philippians 4:13). When a Roman solider is wearing that iron breastplate he is fortified with confidence to go into the battle field and do warfare.

The Book  of Romans 5:1. says,  “We are  justified by faith, and we have peace with God  through our Lord Jesus Christ,  to enter the Holy place.”  When we are empowered in the ‘Breastplate of Christ,’ or ‘Strength of Christ’, we can go boldly to the throne of God,  our  heavenly Father, with confidence, and ask for our needs in Jesus name.  (Hebrews 4:16). We receive from God in prayer not based on how we ‘feel’ but based on What the ‘WORD’ of God says. (1 John 5:14-15).

Prayer Confession: Heavenly Father I thank you for the covenant of victory in Christ. By strength shall no man prevail but by the blood of Jesus the victory is assured.Thank you father that you have not give me the spirit of fear. The Holy Spirit lives in me and fear has no place in me. I can do all things through Christ who gives me supernatural strength. My heart is fortified with the Word of God and i am more than a conqueror as i walk by faith and not by sight. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Reflection: "Those who trust in, lean on, and confidently hope in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but abides and stands fast forever." (Psalm 125:1)

Hi Shade! I pray that I’ll have my shield on daily, because I surely need it. Such a great point that I can’t face the enemy on my own. But I never have to, and that is the good news! Christ will give me light and strength and every good gift. I just have to be willing to accept those things, and use them!

    Blessings,
    Ceil

Hi Ceil! I say a big Amen to that prayer. The Lord is so loving and faithful, like you said, all we need is, to ask Him for it. How comforting is that. Praise the Lord! Thank you so much my friend!

      Bless you 🙂
