Are You Free or Living In Your Past?

“Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Many times people blame their past for their current circumstances, saying things such as ” I wish I had a good start in life, I would have done this or be that.”, “If only I had a better parent.” or “If only this or that wasn’t done to me as a child.” Don’t get me wrong, I do sympathise with some people about the horrific experiences of their past, but having said that, we need to get beyond that if we want to get anywhere in life, because the truth of the matter is, nobody in life has a perfect package. We all came from a dysfunctional family – Satan’s family.

The Bible says when we were lost in the world without Christ, Satan was our father, we were children of wrath, bound by the heavy hand of sin and the devil.(Ephesians 2:2-3) But when we accepted Jesus Christ we were transferred from the dominion of darkness into the Kingdom of God. (Colossians 1:13-14).  Jesus has nailed to the cross every thing writing against us, everything stopping us from being and becoming who God created us to be. Jesus has paid the price for our total freedom in this life and after.  It is only the truth of Christ that sets anyone free! (John 8:32).  It’s time to draw a line on the past and start living in your future.

Prayer Confession:Thank you Father that you have given me a new nature and a new life. By the power of the Holy Spirit I have a new destiny. My past can no longer define me. The Blood of Jesus has cleansed, healed and set me free forever! I cut off the voices of my past dragging me into the waste land. I can never be disadvantaged any more because I no longer live under sin and satan. God is my Father, I am now a joint heir with Jesus and I bear His Name. I have a new name, the most powerful Name in the universe has been given to me. I am a doer of the Word, everyday I apply the revelation of God’s truth to every area of my life, walking in total freedom! God has turned my ashes to beauty. I am now living the glorious life and am a blessing every I go. In Jesus Name. Amen!

 Reflection: "He said to them, Because of the littleness of your faith [that is, your lack of [firmly relying trust]. For truly I say to you, if you have faith [that is living] like a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, Move from here to yonder place, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you." (Matthew 17:20).
