“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. 7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. (James 4:6-8).
The most natural thing to do when confronted with problems is to look to ourself. Satan wants to move our eyes away from God to our own strength. But before God this is pride. The Bible says God resist the proud but He gives His grace to the humble.
The first thing we need to remember when we are confronted with an impossible situation is to humble ourselves before the sovereign God. When we humble ourselves before Him, it is a sign of humility, it means we are not puffed up against God in our own strength. This shows our dependence on God. When we are submitted to God , the grace to be victorious in the battle is released on us. Then we are able to resist the devil in Jesus name and Satan will flee! The Lord hates arrogant heart and mouth.(Proverbs 8:13).
Even Jesus had to humble Himself before God in other to witness the power of God on His life. The Bible says in Luke 4:1 that, “Jesus was Full of the Holy Spirit when He went into the Wilderness to humble Himself before God in prayer and fasting. (Luke 4:1). But, after the end of His session in the wilderness, the Bible says, “Jesus returned in the POWER of the Holy Spirit!” (Luke 4:14). It was after that encounter, that Jesus announced and began His public ministry. And miracle , signs and wonders marked His ministry. There was a clear demonstration of God’s Power on Him, everywhere He went He was able to destroy the works of Satan. (Acts 10:38).
Everything Jesus did, was done in the strength and power of God. He did not depend upon His own strength. (John 14:10). When He faced Satan He did not use His strength or natural reasoning. Jesus kept His eyes firmly on the Word and declared “Satan, IT IS WRITTEN” and over and over, He confronted the devil each time with the WORD of the Living God! (Luke 4:1-14). If Jesus had to do this what choice do we have? None.
As God’s children the Lord wants us take our eyes off our natural abilities and difficult circumstances. He does not want you to face that financial crisis, physical sickness or your marriage problem in your own understanding or natural abilities, He wants you put on His supernatural strength by renewing your mind with the word of God. My dear friend, take off every human limitation of time, preconceived ideas about how you want God to it and put your trust in the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you step by step.
Prayer Confession: Heavenly Father, I humble myself before you, I acknowledge You are the Almighty God. I refuse to look down to my own strength for help, put I look up to You who seats on the throne of heaven and rules the universe. My help comes from above the hills. I commit my worries to you. As I wrestle against principalities, power and spiritual wickedness, I put on the whole armour of God. The Word of God is my strength. Satan I resist you in Jesus name, I command you to flee! I rebuke sickness, death, failure, lack and every work of the wicked one in my life. No evil shall prevail against me and my family. This is my mouth of victory. There shall be shout of rejoicing in my camp. I declare by faith, I have dump-folding testimonies of victories because I am blessed and highly favoured. And Lord help me to take this message of grace to many in my generation. In Jesus Name. Amen!
