Growing in Faith

He tells us everything over and over—one line at a time, one line at a time, a little here, and a little there!” ( Isaiah 28:10) LT

A good percentage of people live the best part of their lives either regretting past failures or been anxious and dreading the challenges of tomorrow. But neither of these should define us, because the God we serve is not “I was” or “ I will be” but “I AM”. That says a lot about the importance of TODAY in our spiritual growth.

Sometimes we want to get there quicker than God. What then is the importance of getting to our destination and God is not part of it? The Bible says everything we build will be tested and revealed by fire. “The work of each [one] will become [plainly, openly] known (shown for what it is); for the day [of Christ] will disclose and declare it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test and critically appraise the character and worth of the work each person has done.” (1 Corinthian 3:13). AMP

What God wants to do in us is far greater than the destination He is taking us to. What God wants to deposit inside us spiritually, is far more precious than anything of this world. What God wants to give birth to in us, occurs in stages, it is a process. Spiritual maturity is a process of precept upon precept and layer upon layer (using King James’ Translation).

Leonard Wedel describes spiritual maturity as this: “A mature person does not take himself too seriously…keeps himself alert in mind…does not always view with alarm every adverse situation that arises…is too big to be little…. never feels too great to do little things, and is never too proud to do humble things…never accepts either success or failure in themselves as permanent….is one who is able to control his or her impulses…is not afraid to make mistakes…has faith in themselves which becomes stronger as it is fortified by their faith in God.”

Spiritual maturity takes place as we learn to master how to focus on today. Growing day by day. I also believe that,  2 Corinthian 6:2 really helps to simplify the process of  spiritual maturity because of the emphasis on the present;  “For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.”[Indeed, the “right time” is now. Todayis the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2) LT

The life of faith, is not about yesterday or tomorrow, it’s about how we respond now to the Word of God TODAY. Learning to ask, “what do I need to accomplish today? How do I apply the Word of God and myself to it? Spiritual maturity takes place in daily steps of faith, and not in giant leaps. As we learn to choose God’s word above our feelings as final authority in every area of our life daily, we will be transformed from glory to glory.

“And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit. (2 Corinthian 3:18) AMP

Let us be encouraged to make the most of today remembering we are been transformed from glory to glory.

Much love to you from here ~ And  Happy Thanksgiving  to you and loved ones! 🙂 God bless you!
