Growing in Faith

“This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”  (Romans 1:17).

Walking by Sight vs. Walking by Faith
What is your initial reaction to problem?  It’s tempting to have a natural reaction to problems. Most often our natural instinct is to respond to problem by sense of reasoning because we are more tuned to walking by sight than walking by faith.  Many of us only turn to God for solution after we have exhausted our natural resources (walking by sight). God’s will for us is to walk by faith and not by sight.

Jesus said,  “it is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.” (John 6:63).  This means that our sustenance comes from the Spiritual realm.

The greatest thing that can happen in a believer’s life is to understand that he or she is not a physical person who has a spirit and a soul but rather, that you are a spiritual person who has a soul (mind, will and emotion) and lives in physical body until your mission is completed on earth.

Strengthening your spirit by meditating on the Word of God is more important than feeding the physical body with natural food. For example, if your spirit leaves your body, your body cannot survive, it will literary collapse and die. Our physical body cannot live without our spirit residing in it. So it makes sense when Jesus said,

“…Man shall not live and be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.”  (Matthew 4:4).  (Again,  Jesus is saying we need to seek God for all our sustenance, spirit, soul and body!)

The Law of The Spirit Governs all
It is the Word of God that upholds all things including the universe and there glories! (Hebrews 11:3) If our primary focus in dealing with problem is  turning to the word of God to find out what the word of God has to say and  asking God to help us it will  cause hope to rise in us and prevent opening unnecessary door to anxiety and stress. The Word of God will fortify us with spiritual strength to stand against temptations and other devices the devil uses to lure us into hopelessness which consequently causes many to plunge into depression.

The Sword of the Spirit- It Is Written!
Jesus gave us a perfect example of how to deal with problem, when the devil tried to tempt Jesus in Matthew 4:1-11. On each occasion Jesus response was the WORD! He kept replying the devil “It Is Written”, “It Is Written”. Jesus knew that what He needed was the Word of God. And so He quoted the passage of the Bible that was relative to the problem. And that was how He defeated the devil!

You and I need to realize that although Satan is a defeated enemy, but he is a rebel, who is constantly seeking to snare God’s children. So therefore, to not give him a foothold against us, we have to learn to be prompt with our SWORD!  – The WORD of God! When we respond to problems by confessing and embracing what God says about the problem instead of reacting in the natural way the Lord will step into the situation and make a way for us!

What is your first response to problem? What particular problem or problems are you facing now? What does the Scripture has to say about it or them?

Prayer Confession:
My life is hidden in Christ. The life that I live, I live by faith in Jesus Christ. I have victory over fear and every problem confronting me in Jesus name. I am a partaker of God’s covenant with Abraham through Jesus Christ. In blessing I am blessed. And The Lord shall make me a blessing everywhere I go. My children will be might in the land and possess the gates of the enemy.  No man shall prevail by strength, but by the power of the Holy Spirit I am strong and able to overcome every hindrance and mount new dimensions of increase and possess new Spiritual territories for the glory of God!  No enchantment, divination, spell or curse shall prosper over my life in Jesus name. By the grace of God I overcome every demonic manipulation over me and possess the gate of the enemy. The shout of victory and rejoicing shall be a constant occurrence in my life in Jesus might name. Amen!

Reflection:"When a Christian tries to live by reason he is moving out of God’s country into the enemy’s land.We belong in the miraculous and the supernatural realm." – John G.Lake.

I like what you have written. Too often our faith is glossed over with glossy words…when it comes down to a literal life or death situation, only the Word spoken, meditated on and spoken again will ignite our faith to such a degree that Life flows. Thank you for wise words.
