Armoured With Courage

Growing in Faith

14 Aug

Young woman in the autumn park

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9).

Hello! How is everyone? I hope you’re progressing well into this month. Especially as we have been talking about Spiritual Warfare. The Lord has been speaking to me about not allowing discouragement to settle around us. I’m sure as many of us know, discouragement can camouflage itself as something casual, as it is fairly familiar in our everyday conversations.  Discouragement might be a  familiar spirit, but it’s a dangerous company to keep! That spirit can be deadly if it’s not quickly discern and taking authority over. The first generation of Israelis lead out of Egyptian slavery by Moses can teach some of us one or two reasons why it’s dangerous to be passive about allowing discouragement to have a foot hole on our door steps. Because, if allowed, the spirit of discouragement will cause you to faint too soon and give up!

From Scriptures we know that before Moses sent the spies off to the Land of their promise in Numbers chapter twelve, the Lord already told them the deal was settled in heaven, the land was theirs. And all they needed to do was to believe the word of the Lord and go forward. But ten out of the twelve spies came back with evil reports, because all they could see was the giants and the problems. They meditated on how they and their children were going to become meat for those giants. Only two, Joshua and Caleb, maintained a good attitude before the Lord and the people. Twelve people went to look but they interpreted what they saw differently.

Joshua and Caleb looked but saw God bigger than their problem and even life itself, they saw favor of God upon their lives, the saw the mighty hand of God placing those giants under their feet, driving their enemies out of the land before them as promised… They saw themselves enjoying the sweet victory of the land flowing with milk and honey. No doubt, many people can look but only few people can see with the eyes of faith. That is why so many give up at the edge of their breakthrough.“Many of life’s failure are experienced by people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up” – (Thomas Edison). This is not the time to faint but it is time to rise up in the Armour of courage, hope and the strength of Christ. It’s time to exercise authority in Jesus name against discouragement.

The spirit of discouragement is a very subtle spirit, but can weave its way through everything and cause a spiral down the slope. For example, ten of the spies with the spirit of discouragement on them were able to infect the whole camp of over  60o,ooo armed men of war in their midst  and the rest of the population of about  2 million people, with the same spirit of discouragement they carried on them! That spirit stole their joy, peace, destiny and life. Let me encourage you today, my friend to stand against discouragement! No matter how impossible your situation looks at the moment  God can turn it around because He specializes in doing the impossible.

Prayer confession:Thank you father that I am a new creature in Christ. The victory won at Calvary is already mine.  As I keep my eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith I am victorious over failure, disappointment, trial and tribulation. Healing is the children’s bread and I am a covenant child of God in Christ. By the of the power of the blood of Jesus I have overcome incurable sicknesses and diseases. The Lord delivers my soul from death and my feet from stumbling to walk in the light of life. No arrow of darkness will prevail against my family, finances and my future. I have no worries about my tomorrow because the Lord is my shepherd guiding my steps in the truth of the Word. I take authority over fear and discouragement and I refuse any association with them, I am an eagle not a chicken. I will renew my mind with the word. For I can do all things through Christ who gives me the strength. In Jesus name I am more than a conqueror for I walk by faith and not by sight. Amen.

Reflection: "Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea! and does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him." (Mark 11:23).

P.S. I am so sorry that I have not posted on the blog for the past two days, we have experienced somewhat bad weather condition which affected the internet server. I do wish to apologise for that, and I’m so thankful for your patience and prayer support my friend. 🙂

Quite lovely posting. I realize that even the casual conversations we engage in can tend to lean or invite that impostor into our lives. May God help us to be vigilant. vw
