Waking Up To Reality
I recently came across a report by the American Institute of Mental Health, stating that, 40 million American adults are affected by anxiety and millions more, are having to deal with depression related disorder. The world we live in today is filled with stress! There are TV shows, books and seminars all over the place teaching us how to cope with stress. Let’s face it, cares and worries of life can steal our peace and joy if are not watchful.
Guard Your Heart And Mind
A mind focused on negativity will produce nothing short of anxiety, worry, confusion and frustration. What we are constantly thinking is what we will become. “As a man thinks he becomes.” (Proverbs 23:7). The contents of a person’s heart and mind determine who they are. And this is why the devil will do everything possible to fill our minds with fear, anxiety, discouragement and thoughts of defeat about the circumstances we are facing until our minds become so confused and weak that we become depressed. The real battlefield is in the mind, this is where the devil wages war against us!
An unbelieving heart cannot receive from God. If your heart is filled with thoughts of doubt, fear, worry about your situation you will not be able to receive what you need from God because of unbelief. And, once the devil gains control over your mind through fear and anxiety, he will continuously launch his sneaky offensive attacks against your mind until you are defeated.
Stay Alert And Be Ready To Fight
The Scripture says, “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8-9). This is a clear call to be watchful and stay at alert! As such, it is our responsibility to resist the enemy from filling our minds with negative and evil thoughts that are not in agreement with God’s will for us . (1 Peter 5:9).
No doubt, the easiest thing to do when we face a situation that is out of our control is to become anxious and start to worry about it. This is the devil’s bait! the enemy knows that the real battle of life is in the mind. If he can control your thoughts he can rule your emotions and gain control over your actions. This is how a life becomes the devil’s stronghold. This is why the Bible warns about taking our thoughts captive. (2 Corinthians 10:4-5). Renewing the mind with the Word of God (Romans 12:2).
When you believe in your heart and make confession of faith with your mouth, the Word of God in your mouth becomes a Spiritual Weapon (Sword of the Spirit) in the Spiritual realm for the Angels of God to fight and subdue the demonic forces of darkness and their attacks against you. (Hebrews 4:12); (Psalm 103:20).
Leave Your Problem in God’s Hand
To worry is to limit God. And this is probably the biggest problem God has got with us, getting us to surrender our problems into His hand. God cannot wrestle our problems out of our hands if we are not willing to release them. Until we come to the end of trusting in ourselves God cannot step into our situation to help us. But when will release the control of our lives and circumstances into God’s hand, He can step in to set our deliverance into motion.
Beloved, there is absolutely no circumstance that the enemy can bring into your life that can destroy you. The Bible declares, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1). God is a very present help in the time of need, in every situation you face God is ready to help and well able to deliver you. Instead of worrying, turn every worry into prayer. To worry is to put God in a man-made box. But, to pray, is to trust that God is bigger than the trouble. God cannot be limited by any circumstances, there is no limit to what God can do in your life when you believe His promise and put your trust in Him. Today, don’t look at the limitations in your circumstances. Look to the bigness of your God.
