God’s DNA in You – Pt 2

Growing in Faith

20 Sep

“Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.” (John 14:21).

Under the old covenant God’s one requirement was obedience. To walk upright before God. But man with a sinful nature (stony heart), was unable to walk in obedience and keep the blood covenant God made with him.

Israel perpetually broke the terms of their covenant relationship with God under the old covenant. They walked in disobedience and rebellion. Giving their hearts to detestable idols and worshiping other gods. And so they incurred all the curses under the term of the covenant. (Deuteronomy 28). And so Israel forfeited their covenant promises. Repeatedly they were taking into captivity by their enemies and God drove them from their land of promise. (Deut 30:1-3).

But under the New Covenant Jesus came and met all the requirements. He lived a sinless life and was totally obedient to God. He fulfilled all the requirements of the law. (Matthew 5:17). As our High Priest, Jesus offered His blood in the holy of holies, in the heavenly tabernacle and cut a New Covenant with God as our representative. The purpose of the New Covenant is that we will be freed from sin and the power of the flesh. And now by God’s divine act of grace, because of the shed blood of Jesus God has given us a new heart and new nature. (2 Corinthians 5:1).

Everything that Adam and Eve lost, Jesus has paid the price of obedience and claimed it back. His blood has set us free from the dominion of sin and the curse of the law. Jesus has paid the price for us to have a Sound Mind, His own mind (the mind of Christ -1 Corinthians 2:16), by which we can have a WHOLE LIFE, spirit, soul and body, as we renew our minds with the Word of God. (Romans 12:2).

When Israel came out of Egypt their destiny was set before them. They had the opportunity to possess their spiritual destiny, and they were willing to enter their covenant blessings, but they lacked obedience.

The Bible says “If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good of the land.” (Isaiah 1:19). Under the new covenant God still requires obedience. It was not possible under the old covenant because of the sinful nature of man, but now it is possible because of the new nature of Christ, as New Creation. We are ONE union with God, sealed with the Holy Spirit, who is at work in us, transforming and conforming us into the image of Christ. (John 16:13).

Today, we need to be mindful of the fact that, Satan will use the tactics he used on the children of Israel to steal from us as well, if we let him! My friend, the devil will use disobedience, unbelief and doubt to stop your breakthrough if you allow him. He will use anything possible to cause you to walk in rebellion against God and forfeit what God says it’s yours, if you keep your eyes on the natural instead of walking by faith in the Spirit. (Galatians 5:16).

The Book of Romans 8:1 says, there is no condemnation to those who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. If we continue to live according to the desires of the old sinful nature we cannot possess what belongs to us. God requires our obedience. He wants a circumcised heart. God is looking for those that will worship Him in spirit and truth, not those who will frustrate the grace of God. (Galatians 3:21).

Beloved, God has a great spiritual destiny set before you, be encouraged to rise up by faith in the Spirit and possess your covenant inheritance in Jesus name.

Prayer Confession: Heavenly Father thank you for bringing me out of darkness into your glorious kingdom. The power of sin shall not have dominion over me in Jesus name. I have a new mind, the mind of Christ. As I renew my mind with the Word and walk by faith, my life shall manifest the glory of God. I have a victorious life. Challenges and trials cannot defeat me.  I am seated with Christ in heavenly places.  The blood of the everlasting covenant is speaking better things on my behalf. All things will work for my good. In Jesus name. Amen.

Reflection: “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20).
