“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
(2 Corinthians 5:17).
The Incorruptible Seed
When a baby is born, everything is brand new about that child. A new born baby does not have a past. Well, do you know that a similar thing happens in the spirit to a new believer? According to the Bible, everything becomes new the moment a person comes to faith in Jesus Christ.
Now, what is marvellous about this supernatural experience is that the spiritual “DNA” of a born again believer is a produce of the incorruptible seed of the Word. The new creation, the new nature of a Christian is born by the Word of God.
“For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.” (1 Peter 1:23).
That’s why a Christian is a child of God. The Bible says we are, “Children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.” (John 1:13). What can be more precious than that? That is a priceless gift, the most wonderful thing in a Christian life!
The Word Became Flesh
In the Book of John chapter one, apostle John, introduced Jesus to us as The WORD. Jesus Christ the Lord, is the Word before coming to us in the physical form of a Man. John 1:1-3 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made.”
And further on we read in John 1:14, “The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
And so, God sent His Son to save us by having faith in His Word. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16).
It becomes clear, that the power of God to save us is in His Word. But the ability to receive and benefit from this wonderful gift of salvation through Jesus Christ is in believing and having confidence in the Word of God.
Overcome Fear with Faith
“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.” (2 Timothy 1:7 ampc)
As such, as a Christian, the word of God is your source in life. That is why Jesus said we are in this world but, NOT of this world. (John 17:16). This world does not define who you are or what you can become. Because you have the divine life of Christ dwelling in you, God has plan for you to overcome in any situation and the way to receive your deliverance for healing, depression, financial provision or any problem is to position yourself in agreement with God by believing His promises.
It does not matter what happened to you in the past, or what is happening in the world around us. What matters is because what Jesus has accomplished for us, in Christ we will always be triumphant. That is why the Scripture says we can rejoice at all times, not for the problem we are facing but we can rejoice in the Lord because nothing can separate us from the love of God. (Romans 8:28)
In this season, especially in a time when our world is plague with so much fear of the current global pandemic crisis, mental health and anxiety issues about different problems, we need to hear God’s Word. We need to see with the eyes of faith so that we can understand that it is not our circumstances or the troubles of this world that rob us of peace but it is how we face it.
Even though it’s God will for a Christian to be strong in walk of faith and live-in victory. But the enemy wants to steal all the good things that belong to a Christian if we don’t exercise authority in the Word and resist the enemy from having access into our minds through fearful and negative thoughts. That is why God tell us to Resist the devil, and he will flee! (James 4:7) It is what we focus our minds on that gains control over us. We can either focus on fear by believing the enemy’s report or we can focus on faith by believing the promises of God.
Trust God with All Your Heart
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6).
God wants us to see and come to Him as a loving God who cares like a good father who longs to provide for every support his kids need. God’s heart is even much more bigger than any earthly father. God wants us to look up to Him for the help we need. David faced many battles in life, yet he never lost one! His strategy for winning was looking to God as his source. He wrote, “ I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” (Psalm 121:1-2).
God knows what you need and He wants to provide. He wants you to trust Him for the strength you need in your weaknesses. In this season where the world is in a state of constant anxiety about what the future holds, we need to hear again and again the good news the Angelic host announced at the birth of Jesus Christ. “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.” (Luke 2:14).The true meaning of Christmas is the message of love, hope and peace that Jesus came to give to the world. God’s favor rest on those who believe His Word.
We can choose what to think on. Instead of anxiety we can meditate on the peace of God by believing His promises knowing that nothing is too difficult for God. Instead of fear we can choose faith knowing that God has not given us the spirit of fear but He has placed in us His Spirit and no weapon of the enemy can prevail against us. “For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.” (1 John 5:4). And Jesus told us to rejoice by faith because He has overcome the world for us!
