“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.” (John 14:1).
It is exiting to see the signs of trees coming alive with fresh buds blooming. Spring is here and without doubt we know what we can expect with the change of season. Transition from winter dryness to spring bloom. We are now beginning to see brighter longer days and we are expecting it to get even brighter, longer and warmer just because it’s the season. I’m expecting green leaves to flourish everywhere with cheerful colours blooming with beautiful flowers because it is a consistent pattern with nature.
You Must Believe It To See It
But with life it’s a different story because life doesn’t always go according to plan. The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 6:17, “Whoever is united with the Lord is one with Him in spirit”. Meaning the very life of God is in a believer. The moment a person prays the sinners prayer to repent from their sins, ask God for forgiveness to receive Jesus Christ into their heart as Saviour and Lord the very life of God is born in that person! They have become a child of God. (Romans 8:16). As such for believers our inheritance in Christ includes every spiritual promise of God.
However these blessings do not just show up automatically like the change in weather seasons. To experience the benefits of the new life of God living on the inside we must believe God’s Word and act on it by faith. God cares for us and He knows everything we need before we ask. But God’s way is the way of faith. God wants us to ask in Jesus name and believe by faith for it in agreement with the Bible. If you want to experience the reality of the spiritual promises of God you must believe the Word of God more than you believe the circumstances you see in the natural.
Trusting God is a big issue if you want to receive from Him. Although God has a wonderful plan for our lives, and He knows the end before it begins but God does not give us the blueprint of His detailed plans for our lives because God wants us to fellowship with Him and develop trust in Him through personal experiences with Him. God loves us and wants us to keep company with Him, depending on Him as we journey through life. That is why we are required to walk by faith in the promises of God.
Trust God When You Don’t Understand
The plan of the enemy is to hinder the good plans of God by resisting us. But when we fully trust that God is control the devil is no match against us. Nothing the enemy plans or does takes God by surprise. God always has the best plan in place to bring us through successfully no matter the size of challenge we face.
In my last blog post titled, Developing your God given dream. I detailed a prophetic message about getting ready for what God is about do in this season of global harvest. I shared at length on Joseph and his God given dream. God gave Joseph a wonderful dream about his life but the events of his life took a dramatic turn in the opposite direction. In fact it looked as if it was all over for Joseph but in a strange way the one thing that should have destroyed him was the very thing God used to fulfil his purpose.
Think about this, Joseph got to meet the cup bearer who recommended him to the king in the prison. Of all places the most unlikely! Joseph got his breakthrough in a place of shame, the most humiliating place a person can be! When the devil did his worst God turned it around for good and did the best for Joseph. This is why it is important to trust God in every situation. We may not understand the plan or see the way out but God has the best plan and knows exactly how it will work together for good for us. Often we miss out unknowingly because so often opportunity comes wrapped in crisis package!
Believe You are Well Able To Overcome
And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. (Mark 4:37-39 NKJV)
When the storm tried to stop Jesus and the disciple crossing over, Jesus told them to have faith in God. If God has made a promise He is also able to bring it to pass even if He has to part the red sea.
In the midst of the troubles of our world today God has provided victory for us. Contrary to the feelings of hopelessness and brokenness we see around the world we are in a new spiritual season with tremendous outpouring of the Holy Spirit with blessings of God for those who will believe and walk in obedience. As the dry winter trees have to give way for new leaves to bring a fresh life. Similarly in this new season of God, we must let go of everything of the past or any counsel that wants to limit our abilities in Christ. It is vital to shift your focus away from the old dead things and set your focus on the new future God has for you.
Let your identity in Christ, the Word of God determine your future. God gave Joshua the road map to success in the Bible, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” (Joshua 1:8). The Word of God is our assurance of who God is and what He will do. When we read the Word of God we get to know His character as a faithful God. The more we fellowship with Him in prayer, meditating on the Scriptures the more we are transformed to become confident and secured in God’s love. The more we are secured in God’ s love the more trusting we will become. The more trusting we are, the more we will walk by faith and experience more of God.
