“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”( John 16:33).
Are you overwhelmed by the cares and burdens of this world?
God’s Promise of Peace
In every situation the will of God for us is to live in His “perfect peace”. His peace is the only perfect peace that can sustain anyone because this peace is not dependent on any external circumstances of this world. God’s peace is rooted in the unchanging, Eternal Word – Jesus Christ. (John 1:1-3).
A person who is in Christ is already a partaker of this divine peace as a New Creation. (2 Corinthians 5:17 ; Galatians 3:27). We are offered this perfect peace, no matter the situation, whether it is to do with personal circumstances or world shaking crisis in the news.
Walking In The Spirit
“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” (Romans 8:1).
There was and there will always be news of violence, rumours of wars and other sad stories in our world but we are not supposed to give in to anxiety about these negative news events. This is because we don’t belong to this world, we belong to Christ. “ I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20). And it is to this effect, the Lord, Jesus Christ, has given us as His Church (Christ followers), the Authority to do exploits for His Kingdom and overcome all the powers of darkness. (Luke 10: 18-19).
The Light Of The World
And so, as the Body of Jesus Christ in the earth, we are in this world but we are not of this world. (John 17:15-17). This world is not our source, we live by heavenly resources. Our peace s supplied by Heaven through Christ. “My God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19). As such, Instead of focusing on evil we are to seek after the kingdom and trust God to take care of us. (Matthew 6:31-33).
The Scripture tells us that because Christ lives in us, we are therefore the light of the world. (Matthew 5:14). The darkness in this world cannot overcome a believer, who is walking in the authority of Christ. In fact, the light of Christ in us shines brighter in darkness. “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5).
Satan is the author of darkness, Jesus told us who the devils is, “…He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44).
But Jesus says of Himself, “I Am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”( John 8:12). And if you believe in Him, “If you abide in My Word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31-32).
Divine Access In Prayer Through The Cross
The Truth is found in Christ and His Word. If you have received Jesus Christ into your life you are cleansed of every sin and set free from guilt and condemnation. Through the shedding of Christ’s blood on the Cross you have being reconciled into full fellowship with God and granted access to come boldly to the throne of God as your Heavenly Father and ask for what you need, be it financial miracle, physical healing, family deliverance or anything else as long as God has promised it the Scriptures. (1 John 5:14-15).
Living By Faith In The Word Of God
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” (Hebrew 11:1). All the promises of God come by faith. Now, let me tell you about faith for a moment. What is Faith? Simply put, faith is choosing to believe in Jesus Christ, that through Him you are saved from sin and all the curses that came through the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. (Galatians 3:13).
This salvation is a free gift, it is not something we work for or can attain through any human effort. (Ephesians 2:8-9). And where does this lead us? It leads us to the fact that, every supernatural provision God has made ready for us in the Bible has to be received by faith. The Christian life is a life of faith in Jesus Christ and His completed work of salvation on the cross. Faith is what connects you to every promise of God in the Bible. (Hebrews 11:6).
You Can Trust God
By choosing to trust God with your life, you can be a person of peace in your daily life regardless of your circumstances. Learn to take your eyes off your circumstances and look to God for the help you need. “ Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you, Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, [once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.” (1 Peter 5:6-7) (AMPC).
What crisis are you confronted with today in your life? Choose to live in peace by giving your cares and worries to God, trust His mighty hand to carry you through and bring you the victory you need. “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.” (Ephesians 3:20). Jesus loves you so much and died so that you could live in peace today and forever!
