Your Position In Christ

“For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son.” (Colossians 1:13).

The life of Mephibosheth started great as the son of prince Jonathan and the grandson of king Saul, Israel first King. He was a royal and he enjoyed all the royal benefits and privileges of his time. But then, suddenly things turned sour at the tender age of five. Mephibosheth’s father and grandfather died in battle.

In haste, everybody in the palace fled for their lives. In the midst of the overwhelming fear, panic and disorder young Mephibosheth was dropped by his royal nurse. As a result, he became crippled in both feet. (2 Samuel 4:4). Mephibosheth eventually settled in Lo – Debar, (a place of no pasture, a place appointed for the forgotten). His name was changed from “Mirab Baal”, meaning, opponent of Baal to Mephibosheth, meaning “son of shame.” He went from a blessed life to a cursed life because of his grandfather’s act of disobedience to God.

But then again, after years in Lo Debar, things turned around for Mephibosheth. During King David’s reign, David missed and remembered his good friend Jonathan, he wanted to show kindness and loyalty to his family. He made enquiries and discovered Mephibosheth was in Lo Debar. (2 Samuel 9).  He sent for him.  To Mephibosheth’s surprise, David reimbursed him with all of his grand father’s possessions. And even more, king David declared that Mephibosheth from that day we live in the palace, and eat at the same royal table with him. Amazing grace!

When we accept Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, we are translated from the kingdom of darkness  into the Kingdom of Light. (Colossian 1:3). Christ takes us out of “Lo Dear,” meaning, everything representing sin, shame and the works of the devil. Jesus clothes us with His robe of righteousness and reconciles us back to God.  We are made to sit at the royal table with the  freedom  to enjoy all of the Kingdom’s privileges as children of God. How marvellous!  My friend, be encouraged,  in Christ, there is forgiveness of sin and healing of our shameful past. God offers a new beginning and bright hope for the future.  Refuse to settle for anything less, believe and connect by faith to who the Word of God says you are in Christ.

Prayer Confession: Thank you Father for your gift of salvation. You have delivered from Satan’s kingdom and  now I am cloth with your righteousness. I am set free from sin, shame and all the bandages of my past. I have a new beginning and a glorious destiny. The Lord is causing me to be victorious on every side and all things are working together for my good. I am an ambassador of the Heavenly kingdom. The knowledge and fragrance of Christ is released everywhere I go. Many shall be raised from spiritual death to the  life of Christ. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Reflection: “See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.” (1 John 3:1).
