Praying In The Spirit

Growing in Faith

“And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.  And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.” (Romans 8:26-27).

In conclusion in this Spiritual warfare series, Paul tells us to pray always with all supplication in the Spirit. (Ephesians 6 :18). The Holy Spirit imparts divine power into our prayer that  pierces through physical and demonic hindrances in this realm, giving us access to the breakthrough we need from God in the supernatural realm. The Bible says in Romans 8:26-27 that, the Holy Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And Romans 8 :34 tells us that,  Jesus is seated at the right hand of God in heaven praying for us.  So we can see that the Holy Spirit is our connection to what Jesus is declaring over us before the Father in heaven.

As believers of Jesus Christ, if we want to advance in spiritual warfare and penetrate the defensive line of Satan to breakthrough, we need the in filling of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Jesus told us in John 16:13-14 that the Holy Spirit is our helper. Even at our best in our human strength and efforts we will still go through periods of the unexpected and hopelessness, when the enemy will outsmart us. In this natural realm we will experience moments of weakness and confusion, times that it will feel like the  heaven is a brass ceiling over us, when we feel alone, and helpless.

In sudden and unexpected moments like described, we may be surprised and be confused but God is never surprised about anything. The Lord knows how to provide for our present and future needs. It’s needless to emphasise why we need the Holy Spirit to help in moments like these.  As we yield to the Holy Spirit, and pray in the Spirit or speak in tongues the Holy Spirit will begin to intercede for us. He will pray what Jesus is praying in heaven for us, His prayer will penetrate through the resistance and spiritual darkness around us, giving us direct access into the presence of God. He will unfold our spiritual eyes to see, and to lay hold of the mind and the divine strategy of God for our victory in the circumstances confronting us.

My friend, if you are yet to receive the in filling of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, all you need do is, to lift up your hands and ask the Father to fill you with the Holy Spirit. God will not deny you His good gift. (Luke 11:13). We will experience great victory in spiritual warfare and in every area of our lives when we learn to pray more in the spirit, because that means, we are  praying in agreement with what Jesus and the Holy Spirit are praying for us. What more can we ask for us!

Prayer Confession: Prayer Confession: Lord thank you for equipping me for victory. I commit myself to you afresh today. Baptise me with your Holy Spirit and fire! I need the gift of your Spirit and power in my life. Change and transform me and make me a container of your blessing on earth. Open doors for me and help to share your good news and bring hope and healing to the hopeless by the power of your Holy Spirit in me. I know that I already have the victory in Christ. Thank you that you make me more than a conqueror in all circumstances of my life . In Jesus Name Amen!

Reflection: "This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most." (Hebrews 4:15-16).

P.S. I will like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all my friends for your support and prayer. You’ve all been wonderful inspiration and tremendous encouragement! Now, just that you know, I’m on break from blogging  for  next week. But I have a blog break post coming before I return back, so please do look out for that in this coming week. Again many thanks! God bless you! 🙂

Hi Shade! I have really enjoyed your series, thank you for doing it! And I really agree that the Holy Spirit is our ultimate power and defense against the worlds influence. It was promised to us when Jesus talked to his disciples about leaving. He had to go so we would receive his Spirit. An amazing and powerful gift.

Enjoy your break, you deserve it 🙂
    Blessings,
    Ceil
