Measuring True Prosperity

Growing in Faith

“You say, ‘I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked. 18 So I advise you to buy gold from me—gold that has been purified by fire. Then you will be rich. Also buy white garments from me so you will not be shamed by your nakedness and ointment for your eyes so you will be able to see. 19 I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference.” (Revelation 3:17-19).

God is consigned about our financial needs and He wants us, as His children to be blessed.  From Genesis to Revelation the Bible clearly demonstrates that prosperity is God’s will for us. However, looking at things from God’s perceptive, true prosperity is certainly not the size of our bank balance, the brand of car we drive or the size of our home. According to Bible interpretation, the true measure of a prosperous person starts from the soul. (3 John 2). True prosperity starts with a mind renewed with the Word of God to the fact that, God is the source of all things including material wealth. Knowing that, when you are in divine union with God, the owner of the Heavens and the Earth, He will provide for your needs, No matter how small or big! This is a soul that has found true rest in God. A soul that is contented whether, in little or in much, has found great gain in God! (1 Timothy 6:6)

The LORD is the one that gives us the power to get wealth. (Deuteronomy 8:18). This clearly shows that, first and foremost, God is our source, not our jobs, bank accounts or material gains. Everything including the material wealth God has placed in our hands is entrusted to us, to be used for God’s glory on earth, not to consume on our own lust and laying up treasure for self here on earth. (Luke 12:15-22).  God wants us to be faithful stewards, using all He has entrusted to us according to His will. God is faithful, He never forgets our labor in His Kingdom, for whatever we sow we shall reap in due season. (Galatians 6:7-9).

Prayer Confession: Father I praise Your name! You are El-Shaddai, a God that is more than enough. You are my provider. Your Name is Jehovah Jireh, there is no need in my life that you cannot supply. Everything I need for sustenance is already created in you and I have access to it in Christ Jesus through the Holy Spirit. I am a tither, and the windows of heaven are opened unto me. I refuse to fear because you are a covenant keeping God. Father thank you for blessing me with material prosperity, such that I’m sufficient and able to help those in need. Also, help me to be a good steward of all that you have entrusted to me, including my spiritual gifts, talents, people and the opportunities you have placed before me. Let everything be used to establish your kingdom and glorify your name on earth. Thank you that as I continue to spend time with you in fellowship, I am constantly transformed and changed, bringing glory to You. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Reflection: "Remember the Lord your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath." (Deuteronomy 8:18).
