BELIEVE WHO GOD SAYS YOU ARE: CLAIMING THE VICTORY IN CHRIST

Growing in Faith

1 May

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13 nkjv)

How do you see yourself? What do you believe about yourself?

The Bible says as a person thinks in their heart is who they are. The reality of who you are and what you can become is informed by what you think and believe in your heart.

All Things Are New

If you are a born-again Believer you are a new creation old things have passed away. All things have become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17). You have become ONE with Christ. You are a child of God. (John 1:12). And through the victory of Jesus Christ on the cross God has paid for everything you will ever need in life – Spiritually, physically, materially and psychologically. Through your union with Christ you are a partaker of the divine nature. As such, you have been given access to the promises God.

“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.” (2 Peter 1:3-4).

As joint heir with Christ God has given you access to enjoy the benefits of the divine life through His covenant promises. You have been created by the incorruptible SEED of the Word of God (1 Peter 1:23). Meaning, God has defined your identity by Christ through faith in His promises. Essentially, God has forgiven and washed your sins away with the Blood of Jesus Christ. God has created you new. God has declared you righteous. And He has defined your life by the Word. Now as a child of God the Word of God is the will of God for you. Your true identity is who God says you are!

Change Your Thinking!

The Bible says that If you want to experience the new don’t meditate on the old “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” (Isaiah 43:19-19). Similarly to live in the reality of your new identity by faith in Christ you must change how you think. “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2).

To experience the benefits of the victory Jesus won on the cross in your daily walk as a believer you must think in agreement with what the Word of God says about you. You must embrace the Word of God in your mind to change how you think, talk and act. The Transformation of your Mind, will and emotion is critical if you want to receive the promises of God in the Bible.

This is the point of what Paul was saying to the believers in his third epistle, “Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.” (3 John 2). This verse simply means, the key to a wholesome life is to renew your mind to conform to the Word of God. Transformation happens when you choose to trust God in every area of life. The Holy Spirit will strengthen you spiritually to bring your soul (mind, will and emotion) to a place where it yields to live for Christ and find rest in Him.

Let Nothing Stop You

Jesus came so that you may enjoy your life by embracing His abundant life. But it is your responsibility to transmit that truth into your soul and conduct your life forward in agreement with God’s will. When circumstances of life become overwhelming always remember that Christ already won the victory! Regardless of the opposition or challenge you encounter in life, never forget who the Word of God says you are and what God says you can do through the power of Christ! You must continually renew your mind to your true identity in Christ because that is who you are. When your focus is on God, He will lift you above the storm. Christ in you is the hope of glory!
