“Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole. ”He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit. “(Galatians 3:13-14).
Christ came that we may have an abundant life. And this was the life Jesus lived on the earth. This was the original intention of God for us. It was the life Adam and Eve had before the fall. “…God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” (Genesis 1:26-28).
Everything was good until the fall of mankind. The curse was set in motion to operate through sin. Sin corrupts and destroys. The devil comes to steal kill and destroy through sin. But thank God it didn’t end there. As the Bible tells us, after the fall, God sent His Son into this world… “But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3:8).
God sent Christ to reverse the curse. On the cross Jesus completely destroyed the works of the devil. And because of His resurrection, we who believe in Christ were raised to a new life with Him. That is, “Eternal Life”, the abundant life of God that Jesus came to give us. (John 10:10).
This is Good news! Because we are joined to Christ, spiritually we are baptized into an extraordinary life of dominion authority. We are partaker of the divine life. The Bible tells us, “….As Christ is, so are we now in this world” (1 John 4:17).
Take some time to reflect on that for a moment…
The Work Of Salvation Is Complete: Jesus has reconciled us to God with His Blood. “God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21). God made a way for us to come back to Him through Jesus Christ. All our sins are washed away by the precious Blood of Jesus Christ the instant we receive Jesus Christ as our Saviour.
There is no more fear of facing God’s judgement. We are forgiven and at peace with God. And in this world, we are free to go to God at any time as our Heavenly Father for what we need based on His promises in the Bible. “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,”(Romans 8:1)
Christ Is Our Standard: Jesus is the start and finish of our faith. “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1-2).
Jesus as a Son of God has set the standard for us. He lived a life of dominion authority and power. He exercised dominion authority over all the natural elements of this world. He commanded the wind, storm, walked on water, told sick bodies to be healed, subdued regions casting out devils, He raised the dead. And He Himself conquered the grave He rose from the dead! He defeated death and hell! This is The Resurrection Life in every born again believer! Jesus showed us what it is like to have the Eternal Life of God in us and live in this world out of the overflow of the Life of God within us! (John 10:10)
Freedom From Fear: Trusting in God is the path to freedom from fear. Instead of tolerating fearful thoughts, our mind should be safe guarded with Trusting in God’s promises. “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:7).
We don’t have to live in fear at any time! Because Jesus was able to overcome, we can also overcome by the power of the Holy Spirit. “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of[a] his Spirit who lives in you.”(Romans 8:11).
We Are Christ Ambassadors In This world: Jesus is our example. “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” (John 14:12). Jesus set example for us how to live in this world as children of God and to do the same works He did. As such, we are salt and light in this world.
We are called to set the standard for this world through our example by reflecting the likeness of Jesus in our character. As the children of light, we are the hope for those in darkness to find their way to God. “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16)
We Are More Than Conqueror: “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” (Romans 8:38). Nothing can overcome us in Christ. Jesus faced incredible oppositions at every level of this world. But, because He set His focus on pleasing God, Jesus was able to accomplish the Father’s commission in this world through the power of the Holy Spirit. (John 17).
This is the hope of the Resurrection life of Jesus Christ living in us. In the midst of the troubles of this world, we can live everyday in the Resurrection power, utterly dependant on God and experience victory in every circumstance! We can have peace trusting God for everything, in every opportunity and challenge we face in this world. We are more than conqueror through Christ our Saviour!
