Do you have a vision for your life? Has God put a dream in your heart for your family, career or ministry that is beyond your ability or scope of imagination? Is there a problem in any area of your life that is impossible to overcome? If so, you will need faith to breakthrough.
The Christian walk is a walk of faith from start to finish. It is impossible to have a relationship with God without faith. We cannot experience spiritual growth if we are not willing to trust God and act on His Word. (Hebrews 11:6).
Without faith you cannot bring into our natural physical realm what exist in the spiritual realm where God is. (1 Corinthians 2:14). For this reason, it becomes a necessity that we understand how to apply our faith, so that we can receive the victory, Jesus already paid for with His blood. God wants us to enjoy the victory He won for us in our everyday living.
What is Faith?
The Bible defines faith in Hebrews chapter eleven, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11: 1) (NKJV). In a short summary, Faith is the “Substance” or the “Ingredient” for things hoped for. Now, let’s break this down further.
First, faith relates to something we cannot see or perceive with our five physical senses. (Evidence of thing “NOT SEEN”.); Second, faith is something in the future, (“HOPED” for). And third, Faith is Now, (“EVIDENCE” of thing not seen).
So, faith is something in the future that you cannot see physically, but, it is Already in Existence in the Spiritual Realm where God is. Meaning, it exists NOW. Therefore, faith is something to possess Now! The Bible in the book of Mark says, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Mark 11:24).
Faith is in the future, but it must be possessed NOW. Faith must see the request granted when prayed. Faith must BELIEVE the thing is done now and starts acting on the Word to see it come to pass in the physical realm. So therefore, the language of faith is not “Future” but “Present”. The language of faith is, Now!
Faith Keeps The Mind Focused On God
Do you find it impossible to see the victory you need? Then, that is the very reason for which we require faith. Therefore, the Bible tells us to, keep our eyes on Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith. “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2).
Faith is the substance of things not seen, faith is the evidence of the victory you can’t see in the physical now. God starts when all hope is lost. As such, the Impossible unveils the glory of God to us. This is why, the devil would try as much as possible to get us to keep our focus on the impossible circumstances confronting us, because the more we focus on our circumstances the more we will believe the lies of the devil about the situation. This way, the devil keeps us enslaved in a cycle of defeat.
In the circumstances you are facing now, you can choose to focus on how bad the situation is and believe your situation is hopeless. Or by faith, you can choose to fix your eyes on Jesus the author and perfecter of faith. You can choose to believe God’s Covenant promises, that God is able to do exactly what He has promised to do in His word. God is able to heal your sick body, meet your financial needs, heal your marriage, deliver your son or daughter from destructive lifestyle. God is more than able to restore to you what the devil has stolen in your life.
Faith Must Be Put Into Action
However, faith is an Act that requires corresponding action. To receive the promises of God in our lives, it is not enough to just believe, but we must back what we believe with corresponding act of faith, in the understanding that, God rewards those who diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11 :6). It takes diligently acting on the promises of God to reap the benefits promised in the Scriptures. Faith requires taking positive action.
The woman with the issue of blood in, (Mark 5:28-34) believed that, by touching the hem of Jesus garment she will be healed. (Mark 5:28). But then, she had to take a step of obedience to act on the revelation she had received about her healing for her to receive the miracle she needed.
If this woman had just believed the Revelation and she had not backed up her faith with an act of obedience by stepping forward to touch Jesus cloth, she would not have been healed. As sincere and believing as she was, this woman would not have received the miracle she desperately needed. God rewards those who diligently seek after Him.
Faith Requires Obedience
Faith is the “substance” of things hoped for, but faith is also an act. God expects us to act in obedience to His revealed will for us in His Word. All the promises of God require act of obedience. God has positioned you for victory in His Word, but you must move forward in Faith by obedience to receive the miracle you need. What is impossible with human is possible for God. Faith moves mountain, but faith must take action to see the mountain moved!
So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20).
What is the ‘mountain’ confronting you?
Do you believe God can step into your impossible situation?
What do you need to do to demonstrate your faith?
